Registration Process and Fee
Candidates must register by logging in to upneet.gov.in with their own mobile number and email ID, as all counselling communication will be sent only to the contact details provided during registration. The portal asks for the NEET UG roll number and application number at the login stage. A non-refundable registration fee of ₹2,000 must be paid online to take part in the process.
Candidates should complete payment well before the August 12 cut-off, as the fee and security money window closes at 5:00 PM that day.
Security Money: Amounts and Refund Rules
Security money has to be deposited online, and candidates who skip this step will be excluded from choice filling. The amount depends on the type of seat a candidate wants to compete for.
| Seat type | Security money |
|---|---|
| Government medical/dental seats | ₹30,000 |
| Private medical seats | ₹2,00,000 |
| Private dental seats | ₹1,00,000 |
Free Exit Facility in Round 1
Candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 at either a government or a private medical or dental college get a Free Exit option. If such a candidate does not take admission after the Round 1 allotment, the security money is refunded, and the candidate remains eligible to take part in Round 2 or Round 3.
This rule matters for aspirants who register for UP state counselling while still waiting on an All India Quota outcome, as it removes the financial penalty for skipping a Round 1 seat.
Choice Filling and Locking
Choice locking after online choice filling is mandatory. Candidates who do not lock their choices will be automatically excluded from the allotment process, and once choices are locked, no modification will be permitted under any circumstances. The directorate has advised candidates to list only those colleges they are genuinely willing to join, in their own order of preference.
The choice filling window for Round 1 will open only after the state merit list is published.
