The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) released the clear vacancy seat matrix for Round 2 of NEET UG Counselling 2026 on September 3. The list is posted on mcc.nic.in and covers vacant MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing seats across government medical colleges, dental colleges and nursing institutes. MCC published the matrix as Round 2 registration and choice filling opened the same day, giving candidates the seat-wise data they need before submitting fresh choices.
Key Highlights
- MCC uploaded three separate seat lists for Round 2: Clear Vacancy, Virtual Vacancy, and Newly Added Seats, covering MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing.
- The clear vacancy list runs to 190 pages and lists seats institute-wise and category-wise across states and union territories.
- Round 2 registration and fee payment opened on September 3 at 1 PM and closes on September 8.
- Choice filling continues till 10 AM on September 9, with choice locking open from 4 PM on September 8.
- The Round 2 seat allotment result is scheduled for September 11, with reporting at allotted institutes from September 12 to 18.
- The matrix covers the 15% All India Quota, Central Universities, Deemed Universities, ESIC institutes, AIIMS open seats, IP University quota and Delhi NCR B.Sc Nursing seats.
What the Clear Vacancy List Covers
The Round 2 clear vacancy document lists seats that remained unfilled after Round 1 of NEET UG counselling. Each entry names the institute, the state or union territory, the course (MBBS, BDS or B.Sc Nursing) and the number of open seats by category, including General/UR, OBC, SC, ST, EWS and the corresponding PwBD sub-quotas.
Institutes appear across a wide spread of states, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Delhi, among others. MCC has not published a single consolidated total for all seats in the notification; candidates need to go through the institute-wise list for their category and preferred course.
Alongside the clear vacancy list, MCC also uploaded a virtual vacancy list and a list of newly added seats for Round 2. Virtual vacancies open up when a candidate allotted a seat in Round 1 moves to a different seat, while newly added seats reflect fresh approvals received after Round 1 concluded. Candidates filling choices for Round 2 should check all three lists, since a seat can appear in more than one category depending on how it was vacated or added.
Round 2 Registration and Choice Filling Now Open
Round 2 registration began on September 3 at 1 PM, following the AIQ and state counselling schedule that MCC released on September 2. Candidates who did not join or resigned after Round 1, as well as those newly registering, can log in to the MCC portal to fill and lock their choices for the seats shown in the vacancy lists.
The Round 2 process covers the 15% All India Quota seats, along with 100% quota seats of Central Universities, Deemed Universities, AFMC, ESIC institutes and the B.Sc Nursing quota for Delhi NCR and other regions. State-run seats under state quotas are handled separately by the respective state counselling authorities and do not form part of this MCC list.
