MCC Releases NRI List of 135 Candidates for NEET UG Round 2 Counselling 2026

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has published the NRI list of eligible candidates for Round 2 of NEET UG Counselling 2026. The list, uploaded on the MCC website on September 8, names 135 candidates who have been provisionally converted from the Indian category to the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) category for admission to MBBS, BDS and other undergraduate medical courses. MCC has based the provisional conversion on scrutiny of the documents these candidates submitted to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Candidates on the list must still produce original documents at the time of reporting to their allotted college; failure to do so will lead to cancellation of their admission.

The list released on September 8 reflects candidates whose documents have cleared this preliminary scrutiny.

MCC has explicitly termed the conversion “provisional.” This means inclusion in the list does not guarantee an NRI seat on its own. It only confirms that a candidate’s category has been provisionally updated to NRI for the purpose of Round 2 counselling, pending final verification of original documents.

Eligibility Criteria for NRI Category

According to MCC’s official notice dated May 27, 2026 (Ref: U-11011/07/2025-MEC), issued under the Supreme Court’s ruling in Writ Petition No. 13393 of 2007, a candidate can be considered for the NRI category if any of the following applies:

• The candidate’s mother or father is an NRI ordinarily residing abroad.
• A first-degree relative, such as a sibling or grandparent, holds NRI status and resides abroad.
• A qualifying guardian, being the nearest blood relative with NRI status residing abroad, sponsors the candidate as a legal guardian under the Guardians and Wards Act, 1890, supported by an affidavit.

MCC requires candidates claiming the guardian route to submit legal documents proving bonafide guardianship and an affidavit confirming the relationship and sponsorship details.

Why the Reporting Deadline Matters

The provisional nature of this list makes the Round 2 reporting window critical. Candidates named on the list who are allotted an NRI seat must carry their original documents when reporting to the allotted institute. MCC has stated that admission will stand cancelled if a candidate cannot produce these originals, even after provisional approval.

This makes document readiness as important as the seat allotment result itself for the 135 candidates named in this list.
