MCC Declares Round 1 Final Result
MCC opened choice filling for NEET UG Round 1 counselling on August 6 and closed it on August 18. It released the provisional result on August 20, giving candidates until 3:59 pm on August 21 to raise grievances about their allotment. A revised provisional result followed on August 22 to correct discrepancies, before MCC published the final result on August 24 through a notice titled “Notice for Round 1 Final Result and Reporting Instructions.”
The final result lists the rank, category, allotted quota, institute and course for each candidate who received a seat in Round 1. MCC has advised candidates to read Chapter 2 of the NEET UG 2026 Information Bulletin before reporting to their allotted institute, as it lays out the documents and procedure required for admission.
Round 1 allotment includes seats under the 15% All India Quota contributed by state governments, along with 100% of seats in central institutions such as AIIMS and JIPMER, and in central and deemed universities. Together, these accounted for 29,945 seats across MBBS, BDS and B.Sc Nursing programmes in this round.
Freeze, Float and Resignation Options Explained
Candidates allotted a seat in Round 1 have three choices.
- Under the freeze option, a candidate accepts the allotted seat and exits the counselling process for later rounds. Freeze candidates must report physically to their allotted institute for document verification and admission.
- Under the float option, a candidate keeps the seat for now but stays in contention for a better seat in Round 2. Float candidates are not required to report physically at this stage; they can confirm their willingness and upload documents online for verification by the allotted institute.
- MCC has also introduced an online resignation facility for candidates who no longer wish to keep their allotted seat. Candidates opting to resign can do so through the counselling portal without visiting the institute in person.
