As of now, JoSAA has completed all rounds of seat allotment. The last, 5th round of JoSAA seat allotment was already declared on July 16, 2026. This was the final round of IITs and IISc admissions. Candidates allotted seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs are currently placed in the Partial Admission Fee (PAF) stage. The PAF payment window is July 22 to 24, 2026. If candidates miss this deadline, it can lead to the cancellation of their allotted seat.

As per the CSAB Notification dated July 20, 2026, at the end of the fifth round of JoSAA counselling 2026, candidates who were provisionally allocated a seat in the NIT+ system and had paid the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) are also required to pay the Partial Admission Fee online through their JoSAA portal.
The PAF will be adjusted against the admission fee. If a candidate fails to pay the PAF within the above stipulated time, she or he will forfeit the provisionally allocated seat. In such cases, the SAF will be refunded after deduction of the processing fee as per the business rules of JoSAA 2026.
What should Candidates Do Now?
If you have appeared in the JoSAA counselling and have been allocated a seat for admission through JEE Main 2026 or JEE Advanced 2026. Do the following tasks accordingly to avoid any issues while admitting to the allotted college.
- If you have an IIT/ IISc seat: Complete all reporting formalities according to your allotted institute’s instructions, as JoSAA counselling for IITs has concluded.
- If you have an NIT/ IIIT/ GFTI seat: Ensure you pay the Partial Admission Fee (PAF) by 24 July 2026 and follow any remaining admission instructions from your institute.

JoSAA is a centralised admission process managed by the Ministry of Education to give eligible candidates a chance for admission to undergraduate engineering programs such as B.E./ B.Tech at 23 IITs + IISc, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 56 GFTIs. The JoSAA counselling registration and choice-filling process has now started on June 2, 2026. The candidate portal at www.josaa.nic.in is activated by 5 PM. JoSAA Counselling 2026 Fee Details
Except for the JoSAA 2026 registration fee, if you are allotted a seat for admission, then to confirm it, you have to pay the following fee during JoSAA counselling.
JoSAA 2026 Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF)
- General and OBC-NCL Candidates: Rs 30,000/-
- SC, ST, and PwD Candidates: Rs 15,000/-
Partial Admission Fee (PAF):
Candidates who are allotted a seat in the NIT+ System (through CSAB counselling) must pay the following fee.
- General and OBC-NCL Candidates: Rs 45,000/-
- SC, ST, and PwD Candidates: Rs 20,000/-

Candidates are required to upload the following documents after being allotted a seat for admission.
- JEE Main 2026 Admit Card & Scorecard (for all candidates)

- Class 10 Marksheet/ Certificate/ Birth Certificate (for DOB Only)

JoSAA Counselling 2026 Step by Step Guide
The step-by-step guide for JoSAA counselling 2026 includes the registration process, choice filling, and locking choices. For more, follow the steps below.
01. Registration
- Visit the official JoSAA Website, i.e., www.josaa.nic.in.
- Now click on the ‘New Candidate Registration’ link (if you are new to the website).
- Enter your JEE Main/ JEE Advanced application number, name, mother’s name and date of birth.
- For authentication, enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email ID.
- Now create a new password and verify your pre-filled personal details.
02. Choice Filling
- Log in using the username and password you created at the time of JoSAA registration 2026.
- Now click on the ‘JoSAA choice filling’ section.
- Filter choices by institute type such as IIT, NIT, IIIT, and GFTI or by specific branches.
- Now prioritise your preferences and set them in descending order of preference. (Most preferred should be at the top)
- Fill in as many choices as possible; there is no limit to preferences (should be 50+).
- Participate in Mock Seat Allotment, which allows you to know where your rank lands and adjust your preferences.
03. Locking Choices:
- Once you are satisfied with your preferences (institutes & branches), you can finalise the list by clicking on the ‘Lock’ button.
- Locking choices should be done before the deadline.
- You can also take a printout of the confirmation page for further use.
NOTE: If you fail to lock your choices, the system will automatically lock your last saved preferences. After that, no changes will be allowed.

As of now, a total of 67323 undergraduate engineering seats across 138 participating institutes, spanning IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, are available.
