Eligible Categories

All NEET UG 2026 qualified candidates can participate in Assam 1st round counselling, including:

  • General category candidates
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
  • SC, ST, and OBC-MOBC candidates (non-creamy layer)
  • Special categories: Moran, Motak, Tai Ahom, Chutia, Koch Rajbongshi, TGL/Ex-TGL
  • Freedom Fighters, Martyrs of Assam Movement, and Extremist Violence victims
  • Ex-Servicemen and Serving Defence Personnel
  • Sports quota candidates
  • Orphans

Note: Candidates belonging to the OBC/MOBC creamy layer must apply under the General category.

Registration & Choice Filling Process

Eligible candidates must complete online registration on www.dme.assam.gov.in during the specified window. After registration, candidates can fill and lock their college and course preferences. The DME Assam will automatically lock choices not locked manually by 11:55 PM on August 18.

All candidates, without exception, must register and fill their choices online. The DME Assam notification explicitly states that no separate offline counselling will be conducted.

Documents Required

Candidates are advised to prepare all necessary documents as per the MBBS/BDS Admission Rules 2017 (Amendment 2026) before registration. Original documents will be required during document verification and the admission process.

About Assam NEET Counselling 2026

Assam offers approximately 1,100 MBBS seats and 50 BDS seats in government medical and dental colleges under the 85% state quota for domicile candidates. The remaining 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats are filled through MCC national counselling and are open to candidates from all states.

The counselling process in Assam follows four rounds, including a stray vacancy round, to ensure fair seat distribution based on NEET UG 2026 ranks and category-wise reservations.

Important Advisory
