The notice, issued on August 5 under Ref. U-12021/01/2026-MEC, states that the Delhi High Court, in its order dated 05.08.2026 in Writ Petition (C) No. 11097/2026 titled “Sunil & Anr. v. Medical Counselling Committee”, allowed the petitioner candidates to re-register and participate in Round 2 of NEET SS 2025 counselling. Keeping in view the observations and concerns expressed in the matter, the competent authority decided to withdraw the August 3 notification.

What the August 3 Notice Had Said
The withdrawn notice was issued in compliance with the Supreme Court order dated July 28, 2026 in W.P.(C) No. 771/2026, under which the Tamil Nadu State Selection Committee reverted vacant super speciality seats to MCC. That notice had allowed candidates to resign Round 1 seats without forfeiture of security deposit only up to 6:00 PM on August 4, and barred those who resigned from taking part in Round 2. The resignation window has now been reopened for all candidates.

Note: MCC has directed all participating institutes and colleges to treat Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as working days, citing the limited time available for completing the counselling.
Seat Matrix Changes
Two seat matrix revisions apply to Round 2. Through a notice dated August 4, 2026, MCC added 153 vacant in-service super speciality seats reverted by the Tamil Nadu State Selection Committee. Separately, eight DNB SS seats in Neurology, Neonatology, Cardiology and Surgical Oncology were withdrawn from five institutes across Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Gujarat and Delhi, all under the All India Quota, Open category.
Candidates who had already filled choices should review and re-verify their preferences against the updated matrix before locking on August 11.
